I have trained athletes, media personalities, weekend warriors, pregnant women, grey nomads and high risk clients. One of my favourite regulars was swimmer Ben Austin, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games gold medalist, who came to me for assistance before the Delhi Games (in which he took out gold despite being quite sick on the day).
It was quite a journey from first meeting Ben who is an awesome athlete and person, developing a program to try “even out” his muscle balance with one arm and having him trust in my abilities and knowledge even when he initially slowed down significantly and felt as if he’d lost his flow in the water entirely!
2-3 sessions a week over several months with him meant I not only got to know him and get inspire but I also helped him develop the strongest core I’ve yet seen in any of my clients. Awe inspiring – and sweaty work for Ben! He’d arrive smelling of chlorine from the pool and leave wet from perspiration most days. Thank you for letting me be part of your journey, Ben.
“Like far too many people I work 70 hours a week, travel too much
(for work!) and exercise has been absent from my life for longer than I care to remember. I spent several months taking Pilates classes with Sol and they were always a highlight of my week and something I never double booked!
My body shape began to change, my posture improved, headaches became less frequent and I became happy again.
No matter how uncoordinated I can be at 6am, Sol would always smile rather than scowl and I often burnt half as many calories laughing with her as I did from the class.
Sol is a fabulous Pilates instructor who truly understands the connection between mind and body and treats each of her clients as an individual. “
Thank you, Anne! I hope you’re keeping up the good work we started! I miss our Pilates belly laughs.
“I have always been active, playing tennis and jogging two to three times a week, but have never been especially flexible. I never stretched after exercising and always woke up with aches and pains. I decided things had to change after straining my back one morning putting on a pair of shorts. I’m only 35!Sol has offered me a specialised service and has tailored exercises to increase flexibility and core strength. Having a maximum of 6 clients per session in her small classes in Potts Point means I receive personal attention and correction of my technique. I never get lost in the crowd. She is extremely knowledgable and demonstrates exercises so that I feel safe and gain the maximum benefit from each. It really is as good as having a private Pilates coach.Pilates has given me a real energy and sense of wellbeing. I leave class feeling focused for the day ahead and it has become an essential part of my life. With Sol’s help, I have improved my overall fitness and I would recommend Sol to anyone looking for an experienced, welcoming and professional instructor.”
Adrian, it’s your dedication that got you to where you are. If every client was as loyal and motivated, it’d be very easy to transform their bodies like you have done.
“After a particularly bruising Sunday yacht race, I was not looking forward to my regular Monday lunchtime Pilates class with Sol. Somehow, I persuaded myself to go, although I wasn’t sure how much I’d be able to do as my arms felt like lead weights. Once in the class, Sol’s smiling face and positive attitude soon made me forget my aches and pains and the class flew by as it always does. I walked out of the class feeling great – no more heavy muscles or aches! I don’t know what was the better feeling, – the fact that I no longer had muscles that hurt or that I’d not allowed myself to use it as an excuse to miss a class!
I’m positive that without the class I’d have had to endure another day of aching muscles before things improved. It was definitely an hour well spent!”
Thank you, Patti! Very glad you loved the class!
“I trained with Sol for several months to help me prepare for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi. I felt like Pilates helped me stay higher in the water; and my swimming style changed a little too. People think Pilates is just stretching but I’d actually work up a fair bit of a sweat in our sessions. On the day of the finals, I was sick and I do think that my Pilates training helped me perform well despite not feeling well at all.”
Well done on winning gold with a Delhi belly, Ben! It was incredible watching you in the pool!
“I met Sol when she started Pilates at Qi, Manly. I had done it before but had not realised what a great work-out it could be until I started Sol’s classes. When she left Qi to start her own classes I jumped at the chance to follow her. So if you need to improve your core strength and get a great work out in the process come along to one of her classes.”
Thank you Lynda! Wonderful to have such loyal clients!
“Thanks for the class. Your are a very clear and reassuring teacher and I also noticed at rehearsal I had more singing breath.”
Wonderful to hear! Breath is one of the main principles in Pilates, so that might explain why, Dean. I use Pilates breath to perform better while running and riding.
“All the best with the course! Sounds fab. You are by far the best pilates instructor I’ve been to.”
Thanks Heidi! Hope to see you at another class or course again soon. Stay tuned for more classes on the Northern Beaches.

Up until today I thought only Apples had Cores…then I did Sol’s Core workout for a whopping 10 minutes… fully expecting to feel like dog-droppings when I’d finished. Wrong! I’m now fully wired to take “Texas” pooch to the park, climb the ladder and clear the gutters I’ve been ignoring for months! Thanks Sol… I’m back tomorrow too!
